What a year
February 2nd, 2009
Industrial gods Throbbing Gristle are playing their first ever NYC show in April at Masonic Temple. Tickets go on sale today at 3PM. Funny, I never considered them industrial but experimental post-punk in the vein of This Heat. Oh who cares! I am so excited for this, this in addition to Amebix playing makes me think that this year is going to be an amazing year.

I can’t wait for summer! I can’t wait for summer! I can’t wait for summer! or in this case SPRING!
G-d bless Scenic for booking this!
More deets at the facebook page for the event. Sadly I’ve never seen Genesis around Williamsburg.
EDIT: $40 for MASONIC TEMPLE. :|

Not to revert to the knowitall pedant that I’m so lamentably capable of being, I have to point out that was indeed TG that verily *COINED* the term “Industrial Music.” They are the definite article.

It’s funny because somehow Monte Cazazza is credited with coining the term with “Industrial Music for Industrial People,” though he did record with TG.
I just never paid any mind to the “industrial” label until recently.

Funnily, I was having trouble convincing some antifolks of that fact at a party a few weeks ago.
Thanks, Syb, I hadn’t heard that song in a few too many years, and it snapped me right back to where I need to be at this moment.
